AXID was founded to meet the growing needs for advanced electronic solutions.

Since its creation, AXID has been dedicated to innovation in power electronics, bringing together a team of experts passionate about technology.

Our clients include major players in the automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy industries, with whom we have established trusted and long-lasting partnerships.

Participation in innovative projects in the aviation and automotive sectors is a true source of pride for AXID. By developing power converters designed for the integration of hydrogen fuel cells in aircraft, we have contributed to making aviation more environmentally friendly. This project, part of a European research program, illustrates our commitment to sustainable technologies.
In the automotive sector, our solutions are already integrated into vehicles from European manufacturers. This presence allows us to remain competitive in the face of global, particularly Asian, competition, while helping to preserve jobs in Europe through more accessible and industrializable local production.

Traduction en Anglais a dit : Since its creation, AXID has undergone significant development. The company initially focused on innovative photovoltaic inverters. However, in response to the growing dominance of Chinese manufacturers, we chose as early as 2006 to capitalize on our expertise by specializing in custom power converters. Today, we concentrate our efforts on design and prototyping, targeting niche markets and small to medium production runs (ranging from a few dozen to a few hundred units). For high volumes, particularly in the automotive sector, we limit our involvement to the development of demonstrators. Electronic assembly is entrusted to our long-standing EMS partner, while we handle critical phases such as validation, testing, and fine-tuning in-house. This organization gives us both agility and innovation, while relying on strong industrial partnerships.

Our reputation is built on a constant drive to innovate and explore technological boundaries. Each project is an opportunity for us to push further in the design of complex power electronic systems, drawing on multidisciplinary expertise: engineering, applied mathematics, industrial standards, and industry-specific know-how. This demanding approach has enabled us to file several patents, applicable not only in aerospace and defense but also beyond the automotive sector. We are not afraid to take technological risks to push our limits, and that is what sets us apart.

We work primarily with major European groups, attracted by our compact and high-efficiency converters. Our scope of action spans all sectors of the energy transition: aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, and storage. For AXID, the common thread is clear: power electronics is at the heart of energy performance, regardless of the field of application.

 

This level of requirement extends to our partners and suppliers. We favor players capable of supporting us in advanced projects, particularly for transistors and magnetic components operating at high frequencies.

As a family-owned company held by private investors, we have no intention of opening our capital to external funds. This independence allows us to remain true to our vision and strategic choices.

That’s why we carefully select our projects based on their scientific value and innovative potential. We develop modern converters, particularly resonant architectures, to design increasingly compact and efficient solutions with high performance.

Our activity is closely linked to the energy transition, as the majority of our projects address this major challenge.
We thus design:

  • photovoltaic inverters converting solar energy into electricity,

  • onboard battery chargers to enhance the performance of electric vehicles,

  • converters for electrolyzers, promoting hydrogen production,

  • the adaptation of fuel cells to operate efficiently with hydrogen,

  • bidirectional chargers for stationary energy storage.

Our commitment to the environment is also reflected in our internal operations: our wooden facilities are equipped with 200 kWp of photovoltaic panels, allowing us to actively contribute, on our scale, to the energy transition.

Technological expertise and continuous innovation

Our expertise covers a wide range of technologies:

  • wide bandgap transistors (GaN, SiC),

  • but also IGBTs and thyristors, when required by the applications,

  • advanced magnetic design (inductors, planar transformers, Litz wire windings).

These skills are essential for mastering very high frequencies, a specialty of our team, and for developing high-efficiency converters.
As a design office, we aim to push the limits of components and sometimes even encourage manufacturers to step out of their comfort zones. Our goal: to design increasingly compact and efficient power converters, in the service of sustainable innovation and enhanced energy efficiency.
